I know this is the west coast, but making your own trail mix truly is a satisfying feeling. Using roasted or flavoured nuts (such as tamari) adds an additional flavour that raw nuts just don't have, and using unsalted nuts will mean the mix will have less salt then store bought varieties.
In a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup of the following items:
roasted, unsalted peanuts
roasted, unsalted almonds
dried apricots, quartered
Depending what you have on hand you may want to add or substitute other ingredients such as dried cherries, dried apple, cheerios, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, goji berries, you name it.
