A Foodies Year In Review

The January/February issue of EAT Magazine is out now and it's good one if I do say so. It's the first issue of 2011 and includes A Foodies Year in Review, an article written by Eva Cherneff (of A Spoon and an Onion) and myself.

A Foodies Year in Review

Another year has come and gone, and what a ride it has been. The year started in high spirits in British Columbia with the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. But by summer, that festive spirit had diminished with the introduction of the HST, and then slumped further with new drinking and driving rules in the fall. Underlying the year was a slow recovery from the economic recession and a hospitality sector feeling more than a little uncertain. But Victoria is full of people who love and are passionate about local food, and in spite of it all went out to restaurants, coffee shops, festivals and events with even more vigor and enthusiasm than ever.
